Keeping Connected

Jonathan Greene
The phone repairman’s gambit:
“Oh, we all know about you
living back here deep in the woods.
You’re some kind of writer and
I saw your wife weaving on TV.”

After a flood we often find out
the road is clear of river water
when the lineman’s truck splashes
down our muddy road to
hook us back into the grid.

Thus, we are connected by
two lines of wire and
the world finds its way to us.
